*Fairbanks City Fun Steel-Tip Dart League Rules* (2020-2021)
League rules coincide with the standard American Dart Association (ADA) rules.
REMEMBER to comply with DHSS guidelines for keeping yourself and other community members safe during COVID-19! Wear your mask, keep appropriate social distancing whenever possible, and DO NOT play when you are experiencing symptoms of COVID.
League Guidelines:
• Matches are played on Thursday evenings at 7:30. Please arrive on time and be ready to play. If people are a bit late, begin the beer round. Matches begin October 15th and continue until March 18, except for the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.
• League sponsors must be within the city limits of Fairbanks (though sponsors located outside of the city but who still wish to support a team may be voted into the league by a team captain vote).
• A minimum of two (well-lit) dart boards must be present for every one or two teams, four boards for every three or four teams, etc.
• The home team is responsible for keeping score for the match, but members of visiting teams are encouraged to assist in scorekeeping. No player may remove their darts from the board until the scorekeeper is aware of the score. Team captains shall attempt to resolve score disputes the evening of the match, but unresolved disputes shall be addressed with a league official.
• Avoid assaultive conduct (as defined in AS 11.41.200-AS 11.41.230). Any conduct considered assaultive should be brought to the attention of a league official as soon as possible. A captain’s meeting will determine whether said conduct warrants the player’s removal from the league. (Note: any player who throws a dart at another will be ejected from the game.)
• Teams consist of six or more players, but teams may “pick up” players from the bar or “borrow” players from another team. Teams may play with four players (wherein two single games and one doubles game are forfeited, and all four players participate in the team game, unless team members agree that one or two players may throw twice). Teams may play with five players (wherein one singles game is forfeited, and one player participates in two doubles games, unless team members agree that one player may throw twice). The “full” team shall pick the player from the “short” team to participate in the second doubles game. If both teams have less than five players, the beer game will earn one point for official scoring.
• All teams are encouraged to play all matches, but make-up games are encouraged. Contact the opposing team’s captain as soon as possible to advise if an absence is expected. Only league officials have the option to declare absences as automatic forfeits. Attempt to schedule any make-up games within two weeks of the scheduled match. Within the last three weeks of the season, all make-up games must occur within one week. Any makeup games not held within the above-referenced time frames will result in a score of zero (0) for the at-fault team and a score of nine (9) for the other. In the event of a dispute regarding which team is “at fault,” contact league officials, who will then determine the match’s final score. As a general rule, temperatures of -30 will necessitate rescheduling the match for that evening.
• Legible and complete score sheets (including a proper date and each captain’s signature) are to be turned in PROMPTLY to Tony’s Sports Bar no later than 2:00 pm the following Sunday. It is unreasonable to expect scores to be adjusted at the last minute, and late submissions will not alter final standings.
• Playoff games are held on March 25 and April 1. The top eight eligible teams with the highest overall season points will play for the league championship in a highest-seed / lowest-seed format. Red Lantern playoffs include the lowest-scoring four teams and will occur on the last night of tournament play (April 1).
