  • This league will be FRIDAY FUN!! Players of ANY level are welcome to play!
Bring your party pants, your friends, your family and have some food, drinks and fun on Friday nights!!
  • Gunchies Volleyball Rules
o A served ball cannot be returned across the net with any finger action, only a bump with two hands. Any other action is considered “attacking the serve”.
    o Rally scoring.
o Rock, Paper, Scissors for serve/side.
o The OPPOSING team serves after first game.
o Switch sides after each game.
o Play all three games to 21.
o Win by two with a cap of 23.
o The girl rule is enforced. If the ball is contacted more than once, a female must touch the ball.
o No touching the net at any time. Honesty is best!
o There cannot be more male than female players on a team.
o Only one toss is allowed per service of the ball; only 8 seconds to serve. NO reserves.
o No back row attacks. There is an imaginary 10-foot attack line.
o Do not catch or throw the ball – the ball is caught or thrown; it does not rebound from the hit.
o Do not carry the ball, such as deep-dish setting (legal setting is at eyebrow level) or basketball chest passes.
o In blocking, a player may touch the ball beyond the net, provided he does not interfere with the opponent’s play.
o Reaching beyond the net - Offensive player has the right to the ball before the defensive player on 3rd contact.
o No positional faults. This occurs if any player is not in his/her correct position at the moment the ball is hit by the server. This usually occurs when a hitter and setter are switching positions.
o Very, very, very bad sets should be called as a double contact.
o For safety reasons, DO NOT enter the adjacent court. The other court is off limits. The ball becomes dead once it goes into the other court. This rule will be enforced when there are matches on both courts. A forfeit is still considered a scheduled match, so that means no entry.
o If a referee is not present and there is a dispute on court; the two teams have 30 seconds to come to an agreement. If this is not achieved, automatically replay the point.
o Announce the score before EACH serve, LOUD enough for the opposing team to hear you. If you fail to do so, the other team can call a re-serve.
o If your team is not on the court and ready to play within 10 minutes of your scheduled start time, that is an automatic loss. There is a schedule to keep!
o No outside food or beverage allowed in the bar, outside areas or on the courts.
o Good sportsmanship MUST always be exercised. Gunchies’ staff has the right to refuse service and ask anyone to leave the premises at any time for the sake of all other players and customers.
o Play the first two games, take a short 5–8-minute break and then play your third game. DO NOT MAKE OTHER TEAMS WAIT. There is a schedule to keep!
o Record all scores in the correct spot in the binders that are provided. It is the responsibility of each team captain to make sure this is done. If scores aren’t recorded, it will automatically be a loss.
o Each team is allowed to initiate TWO reschedules. After your two, if your team cannot make it to your regularly scheduled game, you will take the loss. It is the responsibility of the team that initiates the reschedule to make sure it is done. If at the end of the season there are games that were not made up, the team to initiate the reschedule will take the loss. We will be keeping track of rescheduling.
o If you have a sub playing with you, you must record it in the binder. If this person is not on record, they cannot play with you in tournament play.
    FOURS PLAY:
    • Girl rule does NOT apply.
    • Maximum of 2 guys per team.
    • No rotation other than server.
    • No tipping, contact must be a set or a hit.
DURING TOURNAMENT PLAY: All Players must be on your roster or sub list.
