The Reading Plus Big Ten Reading Challenge, is a nationwide reading challenge that is sure to excite our young readers! Elementary students will get the chance to show off their reading skills while representing a local college women’s basketball team. Students will compete with schools across the country as they learn the unique values of teamwork and grit. Just like basketball, reading requires practice in order for students to maintain and sharpen their skills to be successful in the game. Our hope is to show the connection between sports and reading and encourage students to enjoy them both.

Reading Plus is an adaptive literacy intervention for grades 3-12. Students read literary and informational texts, and then answer questions about each text to assess their comprehension. While working in Reading Plus, students develop both reading efficiency and comprehension skills. Students are given choice and control to practice at their own pace with a program that uses adaptive technology in a truly meaningful way.
