2019 Creston Ball Hockey League Rules
General rules
-Games will be played 3 on 3 (plus goalies) Teams may have as many subs as desired. Subbing in and out may be on the fly or during stoppage of play.
-Proper footwear must be worn. Other protective equipment is suggested but not required. No Jewlery to be worn please.
-Only official game balls provided by the league shall be used.
- A faceoff will take place after goals and at the beginning of periods.
- Games will consist of a 5 minute warm up and 3 -15 minute periods with 5 minutes breaks between. If the game is tied after 3 periods, a shootout will decide the winner.
-Clock will be “run” time.
-Teams will either be “light” or “dark” ( no greys) Team listed on left hand side of schedule will be dark and right hand side will be light. Light and dark pinnys will be present incase people forget or there is a mix up.
-There are no offsides or icings.
-Teams may pick up players from other teams to “cover” however they only pick up to a maximum of one sub. ( it is not permitted to pick up player from another team to play for you and then have more than one of your own players on the bench.
-During playoffs, teams may only play with players on their roster.
Penalties
-Tripping, slashing , holding , hooking, too many men, high sticking will be considered an infraction and will be blown down by referee.
-Infraction will result in a penalty shot for opposing team. Penalty shot can be taken by any member of the team ( on the floor)
-continued infractions (3) from the same player will result in ejection from game. If team do not have any subs, they may play 2 on 2.
-Fighting will not be permitted and result in an immediate ban from the league.
- A high sticking penalty shall be called when a players stick goes above the height of the crossbar in relation to playing the ball. High sticking will not result in a penalty shot. The play will be blown dead and the offending team will give up possession.
-There is no slapshots (stick above waist). This includes follow through on shots. Snapshots permitted.
-Body checking or intentional contact will not be permitted. Depending on severity, offending player may be thrown out of game immediately. This is at the referees discretion.
Grace time
-If the ball is shot out of bounds by a player It is in possession of the opposite team. The ball will be placed at the spot it was shot out with the inbounding player having a stick lengths grace to play it. Player inbounding ball has a maximum of 5 seconds to play ball and may not stick handle down the floor. They must shoot or pass.
-Any balls that get caught in the netting of the goal will be in possession of the defending team. Same rules apply as above but from behind the net where the ball was caught in netting.
-When a goalie covers the ball, there will be a whistle at referees discretion. This will result in possession of defending team behind the net. Same grace time as above.
* The league is open for suggestions and rule modifications. Please report any incidents or injuries to the league. Scorekeepers to summit score sheets to league.
