❖ Rules for the Tournament, using USAPA guidelines except as follows:
• Each player in a pool of 8 will be assigned a number (1-8) for match-ups for each game (see example chart) – Pools of less than 8 will use a different chart for match-ups.
• Use a coin toss before the start of each game; the winner of the coin toss chooses between start side, serve, or receive.
• Loser of the coin toss chooses between the two remaining options.
• Use regular scoring for each game, but first team to 11 points wins (do not need to win by 2 pts).
• You may have a 5-minute warm-up before the first game only. Warm-ups should not be needed for the other games.
• Verify scores after each game with partner and opponents.
• After each game all players report scores to the Recorder stationed at their table; you are responsible for seeing that your score is recorded correctly.
• The top 4 players in each bracket (determined by # wins, # points for all 5 games, and if needed, the point spread between wins and losses) will advance to the championship game for that bracket .
❖ Scores for each pool of players are calculated as follows:
1. Number of wins out of 5 games
2. Total points for all 5 games
3. Point spread. Winning team: if the final score of the game was 11-6, the spread would be 5, since they won by 5 points. Losing team: gets the number of points they earned in the game, in this example, 6.
4. Scores for the 5 games will be added up and ranking of all players in the pool from 1-8 will determine who plays in the championship game.
❖ Championship game matchup will be 1st and 4th ranking vs 2nd and 3rd ranking. Scoring for the Championship in each skill bracket will be 11-point game, win by 2 points. Prizes will be awarded for the top 4 places in each bracket, with total points based on both the round-robin and championship games determining the final ranking.
❖ Last minute changes to these rules may be required, but the important thing is to HAVE FUN!
