Three weeks into the WSL season, and the league is already turning into exactly what everyone hoped for:

Pure chaos.

We’ve got undefeated champions steamrolling teams, expansion squads shocking the league, offensive explosions every night, and enough runs scored to make pitchers consider early retirement.

And after Week 3?

There’s one clear reality:

The Booty Bandits are still the kings.

But the chase behind them just got VERY interesting.

MoCushin4ThaPushin entered Week 3 as one of the feel-good stories of the season at 2–0.

Then they ran into the defending champs.

Coach Brandon Doan’s Booty Bandits looked every bit like the undisputed title holders Wednesday night, overwhelming MoCushin with relentless offense, lineup depth, and the ability to completely bury teams once momentum shifts.

Game 1 was competitive early. MoCushin, coached by Jeff McCrory, fought hard and kept pressure on the Bandits through several innings. But eventually the champs did what elite teams do—they turned one good inning into four.

Then came Game 2.

And honestly? That one got ugly fast.

The Bandits exploded for 23 runs in 3 innings and completely shut the door on any upset hopes. Through four games, they’ve now scored 80 total runs while staying undefeated at 4–0.

Week 3 Verdict:

The champs aren’t just winning—they’re separating themselves from the league.

🐎 PONY EXPRESS PROVES THEY’RE FOR REAL

Pony Express is officially out of the “fun offense” category.

This is a legitimate contender.

After setting the WSL single-game scoring record last week, Coach Pony and his squad followed it up with a massive sweep over the previously undefeated Brew Jays.

Game 1 was one of the best games of the young season. Brew Jays battled the entire way and nearly stole it late before Pony Express escaped with a one-run win.

Game 2? Completely different story.

Pony Express jumped on Brew Jays early and never let them breathe, cruising to a 14–2 victory that immediately elevated them into the top tier of the standings.

To Brew Jays’ credit, this still feels like a growing team with real upside. Coach Nate McLain has spent years slowly building this roster, and for the first time the Brew Jays genuinely look like they have a stable, competitive core.

But Wednesday also showed the gap between “good story” and “championship-level offense.”

Pony Express is dangerous. Period.

And at this point, scorekeepers across the WSL are probably checking if their calculators have enough battery life before these games start.

Week 3 Verdict:

Pony Express looks like a real title threat.

Doobies & Boobies def. Ball Busters 22–10

Every week, Doobies & Boobies keep proving they belong.

Coach Zach Coverdill’s expansion squad improved to 3–1 after another dominant offensive performance, this time dismantling Ball Busters in both games.

And the scary thing?

They don’t play like a nervous expansion team at all.

They’re aggressive offensively, loose emotionally, and clearly having fun while putting pressure on opponents.

Meanwhile, Ball Busters and Coach Adler Obermesik are still searching for answers.

The effort is there. The competitiveness flashes at times. But defensively, things keep snowballing fast once games get away from them.

Through six games:

• 0–6 record
• 128 runs allowed
• -97 run differential

That’s brutal territory early in a 22-game season.

Still, expansion years can get ugly before they get better. Right now the priority for Ball Busters has to be finding stability inning-to-inning.

Week 3 Verdict:

Doobies & Boobies are no longer a surprise—they’re legitimately competitive.

⚡ XTREME POWERLINE AND NATURE BOYS TRADE HAYMAKERS

Nature Boys def. Xtreme Powerline Construction 13–8

Xtreme Powerline Construction def. Nature Boys 22–7

This series perfectly summed up both teams.

Game 1 belonged to the Nature Boys and the Johnsons, whose squad once again proved they can beat quality teams when the offense gets rolling. They controlled tempo early and handed Xtreme Powerline a frustrating loss.

Then Xtreme responded with absolute violence in Game 2.

Coach Bobby Lane’s squad exploded for 22 runs and completely flipped the energy of the series, salvaging a split and reminding everybody why they remain one of the league’s toughest outs.

The biggest issue for Nature Boys continues to be consistency. Their ceiling is high enough to beat almost anybody—but their lows can arrive just as quickly.

Both teams remain dangerous… and wildly unpredictable.

Meanwhile, somewhere at the top of the standings, the Booty Bandits had the week off and still probably felt like winners after watching everybody else beat each other up.

Let’s break it all down.

🐎 PONY EXPRESS AND NATURE BOYS SPLIT A WILD SERIES

This series was exactly what everyone expected:

Absolute offensive chaos.

Pony Express came into Week 4 looking like the hottest offense in the league, and in Game 1 they continued the trend. Coach Pony’s squad put up another 15 runs and looked completely in control offensively for stretches of the night.

At this point, Pony Express scoring double digits feels less like a good game and more like a scheduled event.

But then the Nature Boys reminded everyone why they remain one of the league’s most dangerous wildcard teams.

Game 2 flipped completely.

The Johnsons’ squad came out aggressive, matched Pony inning-for-inning early, then completely took over late in a huge 14–10 response win. It was the exact formula that makes Nature Boys so frustrating to play against:

• emotional momentum
• nonstop pressure
• and complete unpredictability

The split keeps Pony Express near the top of the standings, but it also showed something important:

Their offense can carry them against anybody.

But their pitching still leaves the door open for shootouts.

Week 4 Verdict:

Pony Express remains a title contender.

Nature Boys remain softball chaos incarnate.

😤 MISFITS FINALLY GET OFF THE MAT

Misfits def. Cleats & Cleavage 21–11

Misfits def. Cleats & Cleavage 10–9

The Misfits desperately needed this week.

And while it wasn’t perfect, it may have saved their season from spiraling early.

Game 1 looked like the version of the Misfits everybody expected entering the year. The offense exploded for 21 runs, the energy returned, and suddenly the team that looked buried at 0–2 started resembling a contender again.

Then came Game 2.

And honestly? It nearly went sideways.

Cleats & Cleavage pushed the Misfits to the edge in a tense 10–9 battle that came down to late execution. To Cleats’ credit, this was easily their best showing of the season and a sign they’re beginning to settle in offensively.

But the bigger story is simple:

The Misfits avoided disaster.

At 0–4, panic would’ve officially arrived.

Instead, they walk away with a sweep and a much-needed emotional reset.

Week 4 Verdict:

The Misfits are alive again.

Maybe not fully back yet—but alive.

🚗 TEAM GARAGE RETURNS LIKE A PROBLEM

Well… Team Garage clearly did not forget how to hit during the rain delay.

After sitting idle during the schedule reshuffling, Team Garage returned and immediately reminded the league why they were viewed as championship-level dangerous entering the year.

Coach Williams lineup was relentless all night long.

Game 1 turned into a demolition job quickly, with Garage hanging 24 runs on a dangerous Trappers squad that had already proven they could score with anyone.

Game 2 was more competitive early, but once again Garage’s pressure innings completely changed the game.

That’s becoming their identity:

You survive for a few innings… and then suddenly you’re down eight.

And quietly, this team may now have the scariest offensive numbers in the league:

• 92 runs scored in just 4 games
• 23 runs per game average

That is absurd production.

Week 4 Verdict:

Team Garage is absolutely a championship threat.

Brew Jays def. Doobies & Boobies 17–6

Doobies & Boobies def. Brew Jays 18–14

This series perfectly captured both teams.

Game 1 belonged entirely to the Brew Jays.

Coach Nate McLain’s squad looked disciplined, composed, and sharp offensively in a dominant 17–6 win that temporarily cooled off one of the league’s hottest expansion teams.

Then the emotional momentum completely flipped.

Doobies & Boobies answered immediately in Game 2 with another huge offensive performance, hanging 18 runs on Brew Jays and proving yet again that they are not intimidated by anybody in this league.

Coach Zach Coverdill’s group continues to impress because they don’t act like an expansion team. They play fearless softball and seem completely comfortable in high-scoring games.

And right now?

That confidence is turning into wins.

Both teams feel like dangerous middle-tier playoff threats.

Week 5 didn’t produce many surprises.

What it did produce was confirmation.

The Booty Bandits are still undefeated.

Team Garage is still right there with them.

The Misfits look like they’re officially back in the hunt.

And Xtreme Powerline Construction quietly keeps climbing the standings while much of the league focuses on the bigger names.

Five weeks into the season, the championship picture is beginning to take shape—and right now it looks like a collision course between two undefeated giants.

The final scores may not jump off the page compared to some of the offensive explosions we’ve seen this season, but Team Garage once again handled business.

Coach Williams squad entered the week averaging 23 runs per game, and while the offense wasn’t quite as explosive, the overall performance may have actually been more impressive.

Why?

Defense.

Garage allowed just 12 total runs across the doubleheader and never allowed MoCushin to seriously threaten either game.

For Jeff McCrory’s MoCushin4ThaPushin squad, this was another tough matchup against one of the league’s elite teams. They battled early but struggled to generate enough offense against a disciplined Garage defense.

The bigger takeaway is this:

Team Garage is no longer just an offensive team.

They’re becoming a complete team.

At 6-0 with a +67 run differential, they’re looking every bit like a championship contender.

If there was any doubt that the Misfits had recovered from their 0-2 start, Week 5 erased it.

Completely.

The Misfits scored 58 runs across two games and tied the WSL all-time record for runs scored in a game with 35.

That’s not a typo.

Thirty-five.

The same number Pony Express set earlier this season.

After opening the year with consecutive losses to the defending champion Booty Bandits, the Misfits have now won four straight and suddenly look much more like the team many expected before Opening Day.

Ball Busters continue searching for answers, but the story here belongs to the Misfits.

Their offense has awakened.

And that’s bad news for the rest of the league.

The defending champions were tested more than the final results might suggest.

The Trappers scored 24 runs across the doubleheader and showed once again that they can swing the bats.

The problem?

Nobody seems capable of consistently slowing down the Bandits.

Coach Brandon Doan’s lineup simply keeps coming.

Top to bottom, inning after inning, the pressure never stops.

The second game perfectly captured what makes this team so dangerous.

The Trappers scored 12 runs.

And still lost by 13.

That’s an impossible formula for opponents.

At 6-0, the Bandits remain undefeated and continue to look like the team everyone is chasing.

The second game showcased the offense we’ve seen flashes of throughout the season.

For Cleats & Cleavage, the effort remains there, but victories remain elusive.

The encouraging sign is that they’re scoring more consistently than they were earlier in the year.

The wins haven’t arrived yet, but the competitiveness is improving.
