2025 Caddyhacks Spring Golf League Rules
GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES
•17-week season starting April 30th, 2025
•4-week playoffs starting end of August 2024
•Tee times start at 4:00 pm. Each week you are scheduled a tee time. If you need to tee off later, call others in
your group a few days in advance and let me know.
•Green fees are $42+tax with cart.
•COST for league per player will be $225, ALL FOR PRIZES, to be paid by the start of week #2.
RAIN
•If raining call Riverwinds. If the course is open, we play.
•If rained out it may be made up if time allows, left to the discretion of the commissioner & Riverwinds.
Substitute players.
Because it is a long season, we will allow subs. If you have a sub that you would like to add to the sub list,
they must have a GHIN number. Send me their name and GHIN number. You must notify me of subs no later
than 3 hours prior to Tee off to allow for GHIN check and scorecard adjustments.
•We will always use 90% of the Subs Nine-hole course Handicap. Each team must play in a minimum
of 11 out of 17 regular season matches together as a team to be eligible for playoffs. All teams have
the option to use a Sub up to 6 times a season. However, after the 4th time, a sub will only be allowed
80% of their GHIN HC instead of 90% each time after.
•If a player is injured or cannot playout the season due to medical condition, they can assign a
permanent sub to take their place for the remainder of the season and playoffs. In order to establish and
league HC there is a minimum number of 5 regular season matches required prior to playoffs, as long
as they are deemed a permanent replacement. The commissioner reserves the right to make judgments
in these hardship cases. If a team does not meet the requirements, they will go to the bottom spot and
all teams moved up. You can play alone in the Consolation tournament, no subs.
Scheduling
•The League plays on Wednesdays. The Course requires a block of times on Wednesdays to receive a discount
on green fees. We must play our matches on Wednesdays. You have the option to play with a Sub or by
yourself on Wednesday and still receive the full number of points. Any matches not played on Wednesday
nights without prior approval from the commissioner will result in a Forfeit and 0 points. Matches not played on
Wednesday are not eligible for any weekly prizes.
•Each team must play in a minimum of 11 out of 17 regular season matches together for the team to be eligible
for playoffs.
•No one wants to be out there forever, so PLAY FAST! It will get DARK. Be Ready to Hit! Keep it moving and
let someone know if they need to pick up the pace.`
Low HC plays Low HC, High HC plays HC, if handicaps are the same then the Commissioner will determine who
plays who based off of previous scores. Turn in both cards signed by both teams.
Scoring
•1 point per hole and l/2 point for a tie (Decides a win or lose).
•1 point added to the winning team at the end of nine holes.
•If a match is tied 9 to 9 after nine holes, we will match cards starting Highest HC hole (#5 front and #18
back) using Low Net score to determine winner. The winning team will get 1 extra point and the win 10-9.
•Max. 19 points Per team can be won.
If one paying player of a team does not show or cannot play in scheduled match, you will only be eligible for
MAX 12 points, regardless of how many points you score or whether you have a sub.
Here are the options:
1. Let the commissioner know and reschedule your match with the other team. All Matches should be
completed prior to the following weeks’matches. Matches not played on Wednesday are not eligible for any
weekly prizes.
2. You must play by yourself against both players and will be eligible for MAX 12 points. You are not eligible
for Team Low net prize, only Individual Low net prize. You cannot play alone in the Playoffs. Both players
must play. If you need to reschedule a playoff match to accommodate both teams, you can. All Matches should be
completed prior to the following weeks’matches. It will be at the commissioner’s discretion and
extenuating circumstances (i.e., Rain-out, Course closed) that matches can be rescheduled before or after the
following week’s matches.
3. Ask a Sub with valid GHIN to play, and you will be eligible for MAX 12 points (You are not eligible for
Team Low net prize, only Individual Low net prize)
4. If a player and a Sub are playing, they will play both players on the other team and only be eligible for
MAX 12 points.
5. If a player and a Sub are playing on both teams, both teams will only be eligible for MAX 12 points.
6. If only 1 player for each team shows up to play on Wednesday night, they will play each other. Each hole
will be doubled for points. (2 points per hole.) Both Teams will only be eligible for the MAX 12 points. You
are not eligible for Team Low net prize, only Individual Low net prize)
•If both players for a team don't show they get 0 pts, the opponents get The Highest Total Points scored by any
other team that week, but they must play and card a score. (You are not eligible for any Low net prizes)
•If a player is late, the other team has the option to start or wait and TEE off LAST.`
•Depending on daylight and how the late player will be, the team will play with one player until his partner
arrives. The missing player will lose each hole missed. Please use discretion on this.
•Teams cannot decide on their own to not play their match and take a Tie.
•Matches not played on Wednesday are not eligible for any weekly prizes.
•USGA Rules Apply through the green and you must play the ball down (without any movement of the ball) on
all holes. To be clear: you may NOT touch or roll your ball at any time during any shot during the round.
Example: If your ball is in the middle of the fairway, and it has dirt on it, you must play the ball down without
removing the dirt. If your ball lands in a sand filled divot, then you are entitled to relief, by putting a tee in the
ground, and dropping the ball within one club length of the tee without cleaning the ball. If you ball is in a sand
bunker, you must play it where it lies. If you are not sure of your lie and feel you might be entitled to relief
(examples; Plugged Ball in Fairway or Rough, NOT Sand bunker. Or footprint in the Sand bunker or Standing
water), then you must get approval from your playing opponent on the rule to be used according to the USGA
rules of golf.
•The Commissioner may update this rule before each round based on Weather and Course conditions.
•If you touch the ball at any time, it carries an automatic 1 stroke penalty.
•All Putts must be completed. NO GIMMES. You must protect the rest of the players in the field.
Hole 9 rules.
o If hit in the water, you must Re-Tee hitting 3. If your ball crosses the Red stake hazard line and then
rolls back in the water, you can drop where it went in, no closer to the hole and hit 3. All people in the
foursome need to agree it passed the red stakes before it rolled into the water.
o If your ball enters the High Fescue, you can hit a provisional ball from the tee hitting your 3rd shot. OR
if you are unable to find and play your ball, GO Back and take a drop on the opposite side of the CART
PATH furthest from the hole, with one-stroke penalty, hitting 3.
o If the ball enters the High Fescue on any other shot and cannot be found or is unplayable, take a drop
near where it entered with a one stroke penalty. Don’t guess where your ball went in. All people in the
foursome need to agree on the drop area.
Hole 17 rules.
o If the ball enters into the water or flies the green and is unplayable, use the Drop area.
o If the ball lands directly in the rocks, you have the option to play it where it lies without touching the
ball or rocks; OR use the DROP area with one stroke penalty.
o If your ball crosses ` red stake hazard line and then rolls back in the Rocks or Water, you can place your
ball on the hill where it entered the rocks, no closer to the hole and hit 3. All people in the foursome`
need to agree it passed the red stakes before it rolled into the Rocks or water. Any questions, use the
DROP Area.
o If your ball is in the Greenside Bunker, you may also take an unplayable and use the drop area with a
one stroke penalty.
o Always get approval from your playing opponent on the ruling, to be used according to the USGA rules
of golf.
•For Balls hit out of bounds (White stakes only hole 2 and 3) there are two options available to speed up play.
o Two stroke penalty, with the option of the next stroke being taken on the Fairway, no closer to the hole,
from the point where the ball entered out of bounds (White stakes only hole 2 and 3) (Confirm with your
Opponent the location of entry and drop)
o The Player can also elect to re-hit from the original spot with a one stroke penalty (a Provisional ball).
But if this option is selected, he can NOT use the first option. If the player does not hit a provisional ball,
they cannot go back to the original spot. Must play the first option, 2 stroke penalty hitting the shot from
the fairway.
o For balls that enter Lateral Hazards - RED Stakes, you can take 2 club lengths from the closest RED
Stake where the ball entered the Hazard; or go back as far as you like on the line of the ball no closer to
the hole. You take a drop and one stroke penalty. (Confirm with your Opponent the location of entry and
drop)
o For lost balls on the course in play, you can take 2 club lengths from where the ball was lost, no closer to
the hole. (Except Hole 9, drop before the cart path hitting 3) You take a drop and take a one stroke
penalty. Confirm with your Opponent the location of entry and drop. There is a 2-minute time limit to
search for a lost ball.
Examples:
Hit OB off the tee; Lost shot 1, penalty drop is 3, so you are hitting 4 from the
fairway, no closer to the hole from point of entry.
OR Hit OB off the tee, if you re-tee; Lost shot 1, penalty drop is 2, so you are
hitting 3rd shot from Tee.
For OB, these options only come into play on Holes 2 and 3 only. Lost balls can
happen anywhere except for Red Stakes (Lateral Hazards).
For Lost Balls on the course in play. Lost shot 1, penalty drop is 2, so you are
hitting 3, 2 club lengths from where the ball was thought to be lost no closer to
the hole and hitting 3. (Except Hole 9, drop before the cart path hitting 3)
Hit in Lateral Hazard off the tee; Lost shot 1, penalty drop is 2, so you are hitting
3, 2 club lengths from the closest RED Stake where the ball entered the Hazard;
or go back as far as you like on the line of the ball new closer to the hole and
hitting 3.`
•All players under 62 must play from the GREEN tees.
•SENIORS- 62 and over, may play from the White tees. 70 and older may play from the Silver
Tees.
•Once you select a Tee to play from, you must play them the entire season and playoffs.
o For current players switching tees from the prior season, we will use the GHIN course / tee HC. Once
they have 5 league scores, we will use the formula.
•You must finish all holes. If you pick-up your ball on any hole, you automatically lose the hole
and are not eligible for any weekly prizes, team or individual. You will take the maximum score
net double bogey –which is equal to Par of the hole + 2 strokes (double bogey) + any handicap
strokes.
•All teams must finish 5 holes for scores to count (When raining or for darkness). They can then
elect to resume the match from hole 6 or elect to replay the entire round if both teams agree. If
less than 5 holes are completed, they must replay the entire match.
•If you are playing with a sub and you cannot finish your round for any reason (ex; hit by a ball,
called into work), the SUB cannot finish the round for your team.
o Your options are:
▪Forfeit to the other team; the opponents get The Highest Total Points scored by
any other team that week, if they finish the round.
▪Reschedule the round to be played before the following Tuesday.
▪If you complete 5 holes, take your current score and the other team gets 2 points
for each of the remaining 4 holes added to their total.
HANDICAPS
•Nine-hole handicaps will be determined by the following formula and will determine your strokes each week.
o We will take a player’s 5 best scores from their most recent last 10 League scores; average those 5
scores and then subtract from par 36. This will be your handicap. We will not round up or down. Just
use the whole number.
o Example: 51, 48, 46, 48, 44, 43, 48, 49, 51, 48 (43+44+46+48+48 = 229 /5 = 45.8 –36 = 9.8)
▪This player nine-hole HC will be 9
▪I will be adjusting scores on the submitted Cards using GHIN ESC. Which is equal to Par of the
hole + 2 strokes (double bogey) + any handicap strokes.
•If a new player, or a player from a prior year comes back to play in the league, or if a current player switches the
Tee box they played the prior year; we will use their GHIN for that Tee box until the player has 5 League
scores. The commissioner reserves the right to make handicap judgments on these cases. New players and Subs
must have a valid GHIN.
•Subs must have a GHIN to play, and we will use 90% of their Handicap.`
•The maximum number of strokes a player can receive from another player is 16 for nine holes. No player will
receive more than 2 strokes on any hole.
•The Committee reserves the right to reasonably adjust anyone’s HC at any time based on prior rounds; And/or
online GHIN HC; And/or how they are entering their scores. Or due to injury.
