Rules

Current rules (this page changes and these rules evolve)

This league is above all a casual, fun league.   When in doubt about the rules, let fun, fair play, and common sense guide.

Please respect the field, and clean up all litter when you leave so we do not lose the right to play there.  Team captains are responsible for team conduct and any behavior from team members which reflects poorly on the league could result in removal of the team from the league.

Team Restrictions

Players must be at least 18 years of age.  The majority of players (4) on the field at all times for each team must be employees of the company.  "Employees" includes contractors of the company, interns, majority shareholders and board members.  Should a player leave the employment of the company during the season, they can continue to count as an employee player for one year after separation.

Team Identification
All teams must provide some standard uniform/way of identifying themselves - at a minimum this means getting a set of pinnies (they are only like $25 on Amazon).  Teams with jerseys do not need pinnies - but please have a way for your guests to be the same color.  All teams must also have an ability for an alternative color if there is a conflict (Team marked home gets preference), again not a bad idea to just have a set of pinnies, they make reversible ones to easily handle the alternative color.

Please identify non-employees with colored electrical tape wrapped around a sleeve.

Timing
Game time varies based on season (typically two 20-25 min halves).  There is no stoppage time, games must begin and end promptly on schedule. Due to our field times, the next game must begin right after the previous game ends, all warming up should be done on the sidelines

Substitutions
Unlimited subbing on the fly is permitted, the player leaving the field may not be involved in play

Infractions
Slide tacking is not allowed, however goal keepers are allowed to slide within the penalty area

All other FIFA fouls and FIFA rules for fouls (spot kicks, etc...) are in place (no hands, no pulling, tripping, etc...)

Close offsides should not expected to be called, but blatant cherry picking is not allowed

Fighting is strictly not allowed, and any players involved in altercations will be banned from the league and teams with multiple reports of this will be suspended/banned

If a team commits to a spot in the league and does not pay, they will be banned from the league until they've made payment

Standings
Teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss.  Games are capped at a 5 goal differential (thus a 9-2 win will be marked as 7-2).

In the event of a tie in points at the end of the season, tiebreakers occur in this order:
-Goal differential (goals scored minus goals conceded)
-Goals scored (total)
-Goals conceded (lower is better)
-Head to head results against tied team
-Coin flip

The number of teams in the playoffs will be determined each season based on total teams.  During Playoffs, in the event of a tie, Playoffs will immediately go to Penalties (best of 5, then sudden death).  The winner of the playoffs gets the Tech Cup until the next season.

If a team does not show up, or has less than 4 players, the game will be a forfeit, with a 5-0 loss being recorded for the forfeiting team.  If both teams forfeit, a 0-0 draw will be recorded.

The top 4 teams at the end of the regular season will automatically get a place in the next season.  All other interested teams will get randomly drawn, with an extra chance to be drawn for every tech cup win.
